Conscious Dating Visual, UX/UI Summer 2020
A Virtual Connection Experience
Currently based entirely in Zoom due to COVID-19, this virtual dating experience provides strangers with an opportunity to connect while distanced. Following each event, users indicate if they want to stay connected or not. Tasked with enhancing the experience in the form of a custom video-conferencing platform, I worked closely with the company's founder and with a fellow and Product Designer to reflect the transparency, trust, and mindfulness of the company's brand in an improved version of the current experience.
Connection
“I enjoy listening to someone else’s favorite music, especially if their taste is different than mine. I think it’s a really interesting way to get to know someone better.”
We can incorporate a feature into the video-conferencing platform that allows users to easily share music that is special to them with one another.
Commitment
“In most cases, people ghost me… I haven’t received one follow-up message for a majority of my connections.”
We can encourage next steps in the process of follow-up in order to inform and remind users of the level of commitment before they decide how they feel about someone they met.
Transparency
“I’m not sure that my feelings towards someone I met during the event are accurate at the time of completing the form after the event is over.”
We can create a form within the platform for users to fill out immediately after speaking with someone new in order to capture their truest intentions.

This style conveys a sense of openness, engagement, and relaxation through the use of illustration, gradient, and organic design. It works to calm and focus users, and set the mood before they meet someone new.

Features
Alert Host
The user is able to contact the host while in the breakout room in order to return to the group window at any time, further ensuring safety and comfortability.
Conclusion
Working with this dating company and being able to participate in, not only the experience design aspect of its platform, but the usability testing and user research aspects as well helped me to craft a comprehensive and well-rounded design for their users. Interacting with users through interviews allowed me to gain even more insight into their problems and goals in such an organic and thorough way, and I am so happy that my team and I were able to design an interface that will help users find true friendship and love.
